Are the grounds pet (specifically dog) feriendly? Taking a week trip to Maine with the family and was going to go. I assume the house is off limits but maybe walking around outside.

Grounds are indeed pet friendly and the "cottage" is beautiful. Great trip, enjoy yourselves.

Is Campobello open to U.S. Citizens now?

No not at this time.

When are tours?

Tours at the cottage are from 10am to 6pm local time starting the Saturday before US Memorial day through US Columbus day. There are no guided tours of the island to my knowledge.

How much money does it cost to take a tour?

Can you visit the park for the U.S. without a passport?

Do I need a pasport?

You have to have a passport and a driver's license

Is it possible to bike across the bridge into Campobello?

Yes you can. Customs prefer a passport. You can still across with two pieces of identification, one has to be government issued picture...drivers license. Love the island.

Can you have tea with Eleanor Roosevelt? If so what time of day How do I get a ticket?

Sort of. The tea with Eleanor is actually tea and cookies with two delightful and enthusiastic docents, who share stories and information about Eleanor. But there is not anyone actually portraying Eleanor. Nevertheless, my wife and I greatly enjoyed the tea. Thickets are available online, or at the visitor:s center. The morning tea is first come, first served, while the afternoon tea is by reservation.

How late in the season is the House open?

The last tour I s at 5:45 ADT. This Saturday is the last tour date for the season.

Can u get over to see the house with my maine drivers lince?

You need a passport or passport card

Was very disappointed the website stated that they were open until mid October which is vague my husband and I drove to Campobello Island to specifically see Roosevelt cottage which was completely closed up, staff quickly opened front door as we peek in and said sorry we are completely closed all windows had the curtains drawn and public bathrooms were lockedWill not make that drive from Maine to re visit

Enjoyed a tour of the homes. All of the guides are friendly. Had tea with Eleanor Roosevelt and it was definitely worth it. The ladies who spoke about Mrs. Roosevelt were sincere. Walked the Friars Head hiking path to the overlook.

Take an afternoon to discover the beauty that is Campabello Island. Don't forget to stop and take a free tour of the Roosevelt summer home to take in the history of the Roosevelt's and the life style of the early 1900s. Take a walk down to the water for an ocean view, with the Salmon farm and Eastport Maine in the distance. Possible views of seals swimming around the island. Don't forget to stop at the Prince House nearby to grab some breakfast or lunch.

FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt are fascinating people and were, arguably, just what the US needed at the time: an intelligent and creative president and an intelligent and compassionate first lady. Visit the park to learn more and to see how they "summered". Have "Tea with Eleanor" to learn more about her contributions. Well worth a visit.

This is a great place to visit on several levels- first it's a must for history buffs, to experience this home that FDR and Eleanor loved so much, and it doesn't disappoint! The gardens are beautifully maintained, and the natural beauty of the trails around the island is outstanding! Wonderful beaches, and a nice ice-age bog. Liberty Point gives a spectacular view of the Wolves and West Quoddy head, and Family Fisheries is a great local restaurant (with amazing pies) on the road out to the East Quoddy Lighthouse.

We are SO glad that we stumbled upon this International Park on our Acadia National Park Vacation. It's only about an hour from Acadia and well worth the visit (just make sure you have your passport!). The free FUN tour was exceptional and the grounds are lovely. Expect to spend 2-3 hours at the park, more if you have time to go hiking. The staff at the visitor's center were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. This is an incredible International park that celebrates the Roosevelt's US/Canadian connection. Well worth the time.

Great Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt site to visit & tour. Tours are every about 15-minutes inside the Roosevelt Summer home. Grounds are very well kept & Staff are all kind and helpful. *Go to the 11am Tea with Eleanor that's at no charge (signups start at 10am first come first serve), 3pm tea has a $14 per person charge for the same thing.

The house itself is quite pretty. An interesting style and true to it's former furnishings. The guide was funny, kind and informative. The grounds are well kept. There was a Cafe that had decent food. Things of note: the basic tour is free there are more advanced tours at certain hours. There is also a "fun tour" that mentions some of the saucier history of the family. We didn't do either of those tours as we we're on a schedule. Also, Campobello island is in Canada, that part of Canada is Atlantic time zone, so plan appropriately. We intended to do a "tea with Elenore" but missed it because none of us thought of that.

Been to Campbello 3 times and never made it to this party of the park before. We were very surprised at how large it was, how many groomed trails and wheelchair accessible tails there were. Grandma had lots to enjoy and our teen sons loved being able to bike all over. You could take several days if you wanted to cover all the trails and lookouts. Beautiful!

We visited the island. We did not visit the Roosevelt cottages. We are more outdoor people than history buffs. The island was beautiful. The overviews were great. Black beach was fun. We walked out to the lighthouse at low tide which was fun. No crowds when we went. Easy to get around.

I really enjoyed my visit here. You can feel this history and there is something definitely neat about envisioning FDR spending time here. Its not difficult to see why he enjoyed it; such a beautiful area with incredible views and a peaceful, laid back perspective of living. Unfortunately, due to Covid, the cottage was closed. Entrance staff said when its open its operated as if FDR himself is on the grounds and that would have been neat to see. All in all, it is a large sprawling park at 2,800 acres and there is lots to explore.

This is a beautiful house. I gave it four stars because it is not handicapped accessible at all, which is odd as President Roosevelt was in a wheelchair himself. You would think the Park Service would have made this location easier for the disabled to maneuver through, but, no. Otherwise, it is a wonderful walk through history. Everything is preserved beautifully as it was in the Roosevelt's time. I heartily recommend this as a destination. We combined this with a visit to Hyde Park and the Roosevelt's other home.
